As the third chapter of the TAKASHI MURAKAMI x CASETiFY collaboration, FLOWERS BLOOM positions the motif as both a global icon and a testament to Murakami’s enduring legacy in contemporary art and popular culture.

FLOWERS, one of Murakami’s most recognizable motifs, draw inspiration from his studies of Nihonga (Japanese painting), giving the nod also to the classical theme of setsugetsuka (snow, moon, flowers). By interpreting these traditional forms and connecting them to contemporary art, Murakami developed his own iteration of FLOWERS, embodying his concept of ‘Superflat.’ In particular, CASETiFY use of gold extends this idea, referencing the refined technique of gold foil in traditional Japanese art to merge historical aesthetics with elements of contemporary anime and otaku culture.
